Water quality lab nearing completion            25-Apr-2013
Capricorn District Municipality will soon be starting with the 2nd phase of the over R10m water laboratory at the University of the North Campus in Mankweng. The project consisting of three phases namely the main laboratory (1st phase), administrative building (2nd phase) and the installation of equipment/instrument (3rd phase), was started from November 2011 and is expected to be finished in June 2014. The water laboratory will assist the municipality in its constitutional obligation of providing clean and safe water to its communities.

Clean audit is a process, not a finger click away           16-Apr-2013
CLEAN audit is the results of extensive process and by definition, not just a finger click away. Several cross-cutting challenges, as identified in the audit report, will have to be surmounted by Capricorn District Municipality to achieve clean audit.

The qualified audit outcome for the financial year 2011/12 showed that there are still some hiccups in financial management, even though there were a few improvements. Chairperson of MPAC Cllr Malebana Tswai says the improvement from a disclaimer to qualified is a positive sign that the council and administration is turning a tide on financial management. “Most issues raised in the Auditor General report were around compliance”, he says.
